    The cancellation of WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 was announced on 31 May 2022. The current lockdowns in Shanghai and ongoing pandemic prevention and control restrictions in China made hosting the event not possible in 2022.

    At the SwissSkills Bern 2022, competitions in 85 different skills take place at the same time in the same place. Visitors will be given the opportunity to look over the shoulders of young professionals from well over 150 professions to gather inspiration for their professional future.

  4. WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition

    On 31 May, WorldSkills International in agreement with WorldSkills Members, WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 Executive Bureau, and WorldSkills China, announced the cancellation of WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 due to the pandemic.
    Following this decision, WorldSkills International and its Members and Global Partners immediately began planning alternative opportunities for the Competitors preparing for WorldSkills Competition 2022.
    The expertise and resourcefulness of the WorldSkills global network will collaborate to host the official skill competitions in a variety of countries and regions. These skill competitions are collectively known as WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition (WSC2022SE). This will be the official replacement for WorldSkills Shanghai 2022.
    Further detail on locations will be released in the coming weeks.

    The Australian Skills Excellence Forum looks to provide Australian apprentices, trainees and students who have embraced skills excellence an opportunity to refine their excellence skills as well as development additional ‘soft skills’ which will enable them to become future business leaders within Australia’s skilled environment. It also provides skill development practitioners the opportunity to enhance their mentoring and professional skills by providing them an opportunity to work with young Australians in an intimate setting with a sole focus on skills excellence. The event involves a day of specific focus on refining their skill followed by a day of sessions aiming to provide personal and professional development ensuring participants have the job-ready skills and leadership qualities industry requires of its future leaders.

  3. WorldSkills Thailand Regional Competition 2022

    This competition aims to provide opportunities for youth from all regions of Thailand to showcase their talents in 25 different skill areas, with the winners going on to compete in the WorldSkills Thailand Competition 2023 (the 29th National Skill Competition) in the first quarter of next year.

    The Albert Einstein Cup 2022 will be hosted for the third time between May 30 and June 2, 2022, in the Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium in Neubrandenburg, Germany.
    This competition serves as an Open European Championships in Skill 09 - IT Software Solutions for Business and also in the new Skill 08 - Mobile Applications Development.
    Twelve competitors from France, Hungary, Switzerland and Germany, as well as international competitors from Ghana and India, test their skill at the WorldSkills level.

  3. Skills Finland International Webinar - Towards Vocational Excellence and Global Competence

    This year, the Finnish national skills competition Taitaja2022 will be organised in Pori, Finland. As part of the event, there is a free, international seminar, which can be attended virtually from all over the world. The main themes of the seminar are wrapped around the following questions: Could VET and vocational excellence be an integrative part of skills ecosystems, contributing to regional development and innovation? How is global competence developed and boosted? The seminar is a great opportunity to hear more about the Finnish and international VET topics.   4. Taitaja2022 Pori, Finnish National Skills Competition

    Over 40 skills, hundreds of competitors and tens of thousands of visitors together create Taitaja, the biggest educational event in Finland, held this year in Pori. The event aims to promote vocational education, improve connections between vocational schools and companies, and increase the awareness of vocational education and professional skills. As part of the event, there is a free, international seminar held, which can be participated virtually from all over the world. Unfortunately, international competitors cannot be included in the competition this year.

  5. Jobs Tournament Final

    The Jobs Tournament (Yrkeskampen) is a contest for year 8 classes aimed at highlighting vocational training courses and inspiring students to begin thinking about future training and job opportunities. The tournament focuses on vocational matters and physical hands-on assignments based on upper secondary vocational training courses offered in Sweden.

    The Swedish Vocational Championships are Sweden's largest investment in increasing interest and recruitment to vocational education. This is also a big platform to select the competitors for Swedish national team, to compete in WorldSkills Competition and EuroSkills.

  7. National Skills Competition of VET Students – WorldSkills Croatia 2022

    National Skills Competition of VET – WorldSkills Croatia is the biggest event in Croatia in area of education and training and biggest skills competitions in SE Europe. It will be held for the third time at the Zagreb Fair in May 2022. Main goal of this event is promotion of innovation and excellence of VET, importance of vocations skills and linking the vocational education system with labour market. This event also aims to attract more students from primary schools and strengthen the image, visibility an attractiveness of vocational education among students, parents, primary school teachers and in society. If pandemic situation allows, event will be open for public – visitors national and international.

  8. Swedish Vocational Championships

    The Vocational Championships are Sweden's largest investment in increasing interest and recruitment to vocational education. Through a large and content-rich competition and exhibition event every two years, hundreds of Sweden's most professional young people compete and measure their strengths against each other in around 60 professions. During three intensive days, schools and the general public are offered free access to the event to have the opportunity to watch, ask questions and try out different professions for themselves. The Vocational Championships are large, the total event area often occupies an area of about 40,000 m².

    Empowered by WorldSkills Portugal, this second edition of SkillsPortugal Digital aims to develop a National Digital Skills Competition, according to the guidelines of WorldSkills International, and with the following objectives:
    • affirm the “brand” SkillsPortugal Digital on the national VET scenario, in parallel with the face-to-face skills competitions;
    • have an incubator of competitors for the face-to-face skills competitions;
    • raise society's awareness of the importance of qualifications in the digital area;
    • make a contribution to reinforcing the digitalization of companies, aiming at greater competitiveness and resilience;
    • enhance partnerships and synergies with leading companies at national and global level in the digital area;
    • embodying European and national guidelines on digital education and training;

    • through WorldSkills Portugal, comply with WorldSkills International guidelines on innovative competitive activities to promote skills competitions and qualifications.
    This second edition will have 21 skills in competition and an estimated number of 200 competitors.

    This is an initiative that comes from the European initiative VET week and is also a part of the national investment in the attractiveness in VET. 2021 will be the first year to announce the Swedish VET week (Yrkesutbildningsveckan). During a yearly week WorldSkills Sweden motivate and try to inspire partners and stakeholders to focus and do activities to increase the attractiveness and status of VET education. Industries, VET educations, teachers, pupils are some of the target groups.

    WorldSkills Singapore 2021 (WSS 2021) is scheduled from 29 Sep to 8 Oct 2021 to select top medallists to represent Singapore at the regional and international skills competition. Although a national skills competition was conducted in 2020, Singapore will need to conduct another scaled down competition for 19 skills areas where competitors are unable to compete in WSC Shanghai owing to the postponement.

    Similar to past national competitions, the best talents from Singapore’s vocational and technical institutions, and universities will participate in the 3-day competition for a chance to represent Singapore. Competitors representing Singapore at WSC Shanghai in Oct 2022 will comprise of winners from WSS 2020 and WSS 2021.

  2. WorldSkills Chinese Taipei 2021 National Skills Week

    2021 National Skills Week is to be staged from September 29 through October 3, including National Skills competition and a series of activities--Conference and workshops. The event is scheduled to be organized at Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, with opening ceremony September 29 and closing ceremony October 3. This year's National Skills Competition will bring together more than 900 competitors around the island, competing for 52 skills medals. Plus, over 100 Junior Competitors participating in 13 Junior skills. Under the same roof, you can find "try your skills", "career guidance", "future skills" and "be a maker" areas to attract the visitors. The Skills Cooperation conference is to take place in the neighborhood, with speakers and guests from more than 20 countries.

  3. Information Network Cabling Training Courses

As part of this partnership, WorldSkills China is hosting a free online training course in September of 2021.

    The EuroSkills Graz 2021 team has drawn up extensive measures and developed a well-balanced and extremely comprehensive Covid-19 prevention concept in line with the regulations currently in force in order to host the event in September 2021.
