    Taitaja competition is the largest annual vocational education event in Finland. In past years, it has attracted over 40 000 visitors annually to take part in the event. In May 2021, the event will be organised in a new way. Instead of one big public event, the competition will be organised in vocational institutes around northern Finland and streamed online. Taitaja2021 Oulu event is organised by Educational Consortium OSAO, together with Skills Finland and several education providers from Northern Finland. The competition for the Finnish championship includes 46 skills categories and 360 competitors.

  7. 2021 WorldSkills Hong Kong “Rail Vehicle Technology” Competition – Final

    The first time “Rail Vehicle Technology” competition is organized in Hong Kong, and the first time for WorldSkills Hong Kong to cooperate with Mass Transit Railway (MTR) company in organizing and providing profession trainings to winners. 12 out of 40 teams, who were selected at semi-final, will go through a final round of technical examination and compete for the two best teams to receive further trainings and final selection.

    SkillsUSA National Signing Day was held on May 4 to celebrate high school seniors and college/postsecondary students who have chosen to pursue a career as a professional in any of the skilled trades. Local SkillsUSA chapters were encouraged to host a signing day event by inviting business partners, school administrators, teachers, elected officials, SkillsUSA alumni, family and friends to honor students signing “letters of intent” for a job offer, apprenticeship or advanced technical training.
    The 2021 National Signing Day is sponsored by The Home Depot, Klein Tools, 84 Lumber and NC3.

    Skills competitions will take place in 13 regions in 56 skills throughout France in all types of training centres, vocational schools, partner companies, etc. This is an unprecedented experience and format to maintain the general competition dynamic and support the WorldSkills France ecosystem.
    At the end of competitions in PHASE 1, competitors obtain a score representing 20 to 50% of the final score to be completed during NATIONAL FINALS PHASE 2 due to take place on a single-site in Lyon at Eurexpo in January 2022.

    For the sake of strengthening education and skills resilience for personal growth and employability, Festo is pleased to kick-off of a series of activities in contribution to the WorldSkills year of innovation and in honor of 30 years Global Partnership with WorldSkills. The first activity is dedicated to digital skills, knowledge and capacity building in the field of state-of-the-art manufacturing and production engineering technologies.
    Festo offers to WorldSkillers from around the globe, active in skills development in the Manufacturing Cluster a session on the latest Digital Collaboration Platform: Festo LX (Festo Learning Experience). There are 400 users accounts(first come, first serve) exclusively allocated and reserved to WorldSkillers enabling them to access more than 200 courses (including 1,500 hours of E-Learning content). The Festo LX provides a social learning environment for sharing documents, media, exercises, solutions, Learning paths, answering questions and online coaching for experts, faculty, learners and students. Theoretical and practical tasks could be tailored to the requirements of the individual learners as well.

    The so-called AustrianSkills are the national qualification competitions in which the participants qualify for the international vocational competitions. Based on the level of international competitions, young professionals compete for a ticket to WorldSkills or EuroSkills every two years at the Austrian State Championships.

    Skills/Compétences Canada will host the 26th Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) in Vancouver. During the two days of competition, Canada’s best students and apprentices in skilled trades and technologies will compete with the goal of becoming the national champion in their respective discipline. SCNC is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. The event welcomes over 550 competitors participating in over 40 skilled trade and technology Skill Areas. SCNC brings together industry, government and education representatives and up to 7,500 student visitors who will participate in over 50 Try-a-Trade® and Technology activities and interactive demonstrations on our Essential Skills Stage. Through SCNC, Skills/Compétences Canada seeks to raise awareness about the skilled trade and technology sectors to Canadian youth and their influencers. SCNC Vancouver 2020 is a Selection year for WorldSkills Team Canada 2021 to compete at the WorldSkills Competition being held in Shanghai, China.

    WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition and Carnival 2020, Vocational and Professional Education Training (VPET) International Conference 2020, and VTC International STEM Student’s Forum and Exchange Progamme 2020. As in 2017, it is expected that this mega event will attract more than 20,000 visitors. The theme will be ‘Skilling for the Future’. The VPET International Conference 2020 aims at raising the profile of VPET in the region and connect international and local delegates from the government, enterprises, and education institutions. Renowned speakers from different countries will be invited to shed light on future skills and workforce and share their insights on future talent strategies with participants in several plenary and break-out thematic sessions. The WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition 2020 will be inviting participation from overseas teams and it will be a platform for young competitors to showcase their talents, gain exposure and network.
