Members vote for Vision 2035 at WorldSkills General Assembly 2026

WorldSkills General Assembly 2026 opened today in Shanghai, bringing together representatives from its 90 Member countries and regions, alongside a growing group of WorldSkills Affiliate Members and its 30 WorldSkills Global Partners.

For some in the room, this meeting marked their first General Assembly as official Members. WorldSkills Algeria was announced as a WorldSkills Member in April 2026 and today was officially welcomed by the gathered delegates. Leticia Sedkaoui, Official Delegate, Algeria, thanked the Members and expressed her happiness to be part of the WorldSkills community, saying, “The TVET system in Algeria is in transformation and our employers in industry are indicating the skills [they need] so that our workforce can be prepared for the future.”

Members went on to vote on key matters arising from the Strategic Development and Competition Committees. Significantly, Members voted on, and adopted, the new Vision 2035. Shaped over the past year through virtual and in-person consultations, it now becomes the WorldSkills strategic roadmap for the decade ahead. The full plan was shared with Members before being published online for the whole community to access.

Members also agreed to officially adopt a new role of Affiliate Member into the existing membership structure. This means that countries and regions interested in becoming full Members can begin to participate as a guest at WorldSkills events and meetings, and access core resources and tools.

WorldSkills Mongolia updated Members and Partners about WorldSkills General Assembly 2027. Under the banner “Developing resources that make the whole world go”, Official Delegate Eddie Erdenedelger shared details about the venue, transport logistics, and delegate packages.

Nurit Davidowicz, WorldSkills Champions Trust representative for Europe, rounded up the day’s agenda with highlights from the last 12 months. She described how the representatives had spoken at UN high-level panels, skills promotion events, and WorldSkills General Assembly 2026. She also gave examples of the roles they would be carrying out at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 and WorldSkills Conference 2026.

At the end of the week, Members and Global Partners will come back together for the final day of WorldSkills General Assembly 2026 to reflect on the successes and learnings from the 48th WorldSkills Competition, and to close the annual meeting before returning to their countries and regions.
