Don’t Walk By Box launched by the WorldSkills Champions Trust
When the representatives of the WorldSkills Champions Trust (WSCT) were tasked with the challenge of identifying ways to enhance WorldSkills they wanted to create a way to harness the ideas of attendees to competitions. After some creative brainstorming the “Don’t Walk By Box” was created.
Since the primary goal of the WSCT is to bridge the gap between Champions and WorldSkills it is fitting that the first project brought to life by the current representatives aims to improve the competition experience by capturing suggestions from those attending the event.
The first implementation of the “Don’t Walk By Box” was done at the WorldSkills Russia National Competition in May. Wooden boxes with colored stickers and description in two languages outlined “Don’t walk by box! Share your ideas and impressions about the competition! Let’s improve our world with the power of skills!” The box included a shelf to hold paper that people were encouraged to write their suggestions and a slot to submit their ideas.
The "Don't Walk By Box" was an easy way to collect the initial feedback from the competition. Every visitor had a chance to share their ideas and general impression of the competition.
Anna Prokopenya, of the WorldSkills Champions Trust, brought the idea to WorldSkills Russia. "Implementing the Don't Walk By Box at the WorldSkills Russia National Competition was an important step for realizing this project globally," said Anna. "I am grateful to WorldSkills Russia for supporting the first initiative of the WorldSkills Champion Trust. We hope that we can find some fresh, interesting ideas in this boxes!"
Students from Moscow Architecture Design and Reengineering College made the boxes that were located throughout the competition space at the Russian National Competition. The information is being processed by volunteers for the Competition Organizers and the WSCT to review the ideas.
The WSCT is a group of nine Champions working together to help bridge the gap between Champions and WorldSkills beyond the Competition.
The WSCT was developed by Champions for Champions at the WorldSkills Champions Forum 2014 in Lucerne, Switzerland. This group works to help raise levels of engagement amongst WorldSkills Champions and promote active involvement in WorldSkills and WorldSkills Foundation projects, initiatives, and activities.
