Community Plumbing Challenge
2-5 November 2015
Community Plumbing Challenges supported by WorldSkills Foundation took place from 2 to 5 November 2015 in the ancient city of Nashik, India. Four international teams – Australia, Basque Country, India, and United States of America – brought in young professionals who were specialized in plumbing, engineering, construction, and design to deliver solutions for sanitation issues directly in the community-in-need.
The primary team objectives were to upgrade and renovate the washing and toilet facilities at a municipal school in Nashik – School 125 – where the children didn't have a reliable water supply or proper facilities. At the same time, the teams were required to collaborate, communicate, and compete in an international setting to determine the winning team for the event. The Community Plumbing Challenge gave lessons on sanitation to students and other community representatives.
