WorldSkills Champions Forum 2016

Champions Challenge
2-7 October, 2016
Niagara Falls, Canada

In partnership with Autodesk, WorldSkills hosted 28 WorldSkills Champions from around the globe in Niagara Falls, Canada for the WorldSkills Champions Forum 1-7 October 2016.

Over the course of the week Champions worked together and developed projects that engage other Champions, raise the profile of WorldSkills, and improve the world with the power of skills.

The Champions used their expertise and diverse perspectives to create four outcome focused projects and meaningful opportunities to solve real-world problems. The Champions presented their proposals to the delegates of the WorldSkills General Assembly on Friday, 7 October 2016.

Projects included:

  • Developing a Skills Training Camp manual to help countries and communities create summer camps for young students to learn about skilled careers early in life;
  • Creating a Sustainability Forum consisting of WorldSkills Champions and Experts to ensure WorldSkills events are making a green impact;
  • Tackle the global issue of homelessness by creating a Digital Design Challenge to find ways of building shelters out of pre-existing materials and buildings; and
  • Create mobile training centres and programmes to teach refugees in Rwanda new skills to help improve their lives and communities.

The WorldSkills Champions Trust will work with Autodesk to start further development of these projects.

Highlights of the Champions presentations are on the Autodesk Champions webpage.
