Board member – Strategic Development
Alejandro Weinstein has over 16 years of private and public experience in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to his role as Board Member – Strategic Development at WorldSkills.
His career in TVET began as a programme director at Duoc, Chile's largest community college, and progressed to leading the national TVET system at the Ministry of Education. For the past decade, he has managed a vocational school with over 1,000 students, and act as a consultant or Board Director for various TVET organizations.
Alejandro's governance experience includes serving on the National Commission on Accreditation from 2015 to 2019, where he was part of decision-making on accreditation for all universities and community colleges in Chile.
His WorldSkills journey started 13 years ago and, as a founding Board member of WorldSkills Chile he has been instrumental in establishing and growing national competitions. He was the Chilean OD at WS Sao Paulo 2015, Kazan 2019 and SE 2022, and played a relevant part at the WS Americas’ General Assemblies in Guatemala 2015, Buenos Aires 2017 and Santiago 2019.
Alejandro has an Engineering degree from Universidad Catolica of Chile, a Master's in International Development Policy from Duke University (USA), and a Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership (UDD Chile).
