Industry 4.0

Nurit Davidowicz is a mechatronics specialist from Vienna, Austria. She competed in Industry 4.0 at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, earning a Medallion for Excellence. She completed her apprenticeship at Siemens, while also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Digital Communication at the University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien.

Nurit’s path to engineering was unconventional. After enrolling in physics and realizing it wasn’t the right fit, she used a creative approach – outsmarting social media algorithms to show her ads for engineering programs. This led her to Siemens’ dual study program, where she combined hands-on experience with academic learning. She worked at Siemens four days a week and studied in the evenings. Upon graduation, she secured a position on Siemens’ software development team, specializing in predictive maintenance for factory equipment.

Having held the role of student representative at high school, and currently representing apprentices at Siemens, Nurit has experience in advocating for the common good. As the only woman in her apprenticeship year, she is concerned about women's underrepresentation in technical fields. Identifying as queer, she advocates for workplace inclusion, recognizing that people often face discrimination in many ways.

Through her role at WorldSkills, she hopes to inspire the next generation of young professionals, using her platform to promote diversity, inclusion, and representation in technical fields.
