WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 media registration now open

Media organizations from around the world are invited to apply for accreditation to cover the global stage for skills this September.

Media registration for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 is officially open. From 22 to 27 September 2026, the 48th WorldSkills Competition will be hosted at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China, the world’s largest exhibition complex. Media organizations, WorldSkills Members and Global Partners media can now apply for accreditation at the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 website.

Held every two years, the WorldSkills Competition is the world’s largest international gathering of skills talent. An estimated 1,400 Competitors from 73 countries and regions will compete in 64 skills, including seven new emerging occupations. Each Competitor has earned their place through national and regional selection competitions and is getting ready to showcase skill excellence in Shanghai.

Accredited media will have the opportunity to cover the skill competitions and international Competitors, and will be invited to apply for access to key events including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, held at the Shanghai World Expo Cultural Center on 22 and 27 September, and WorldSkills Conference 2026 themed Shaping a Skills-Driven Future, which convenes Ministers, policymakers, industry leaders, and educators from all over the world.

To support accredited media, two centres will operate during the event. The WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 Executive Bureau plans to uphold a “media-forward” approach, delivering efficient, practical, and professional services to accredited media and seamless access to all components of the Competition and Conference.
