WorldSkills Experts Faculty welcomes new Representatives

Beatha Shinana from Namibia and Robin Gillet from France have joined the Faculty as Representatives for Creative Arts and Fashion.

The WorldSkills Expert Faculty is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Experts who have joined the management team as Representatives for Creative Arts and Fashion. They are Beatha Shinana from Namibia and Robin Gillet from France. These new Representatives will fill two vacancies in the group, further strengthening the Faculty’s mission to promote skills development and excellence worldwide.

Beatha, who is a Fashion and Fabrics teacher at Onawa Secondary School in Namibia, has served as an Expert for Fashion Technology at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, and WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022.

She brings to the group a wealth of expertise, a passion for skills development, and a strong commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation. Talking about her motivations, Beatha says that she is interested in the exposure she can gain to “diverse cultures and approaches to skills development,” which can enhance both her personal and professional growth. She hopes to apply these insights in the future to elevate the standard of skills training and education in Namibia.

During her tenure as Representative, her focus, she says, will be on “Expert knowledge sharing, curriculum development, and the integration of technology and innovation into training programmes.”

A WorldSkills Champion, Robin Gillet has been involved with WorldSkills since competing in Leipzig in 2013. He was an Expert and trainer in Graphic Design Technology from 2016 to 2023 – he prepared the silver Medallist from WorldSkills Kazan 2019 – the Chief Expert for WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, and was then hired by WorldSkills Lyon 2024 as Workshop Sector Manager for Creative Arts and Fashion.

Robin, the Art Director of his own graphic design studio, also aims to support the WorldSkills Expert Faculty in “developing visual communication tools to enhance the clarity and accessibility of training materials and expert resources.” Deeply connected to the WorldSkills movement, Robin says that he would also like to volunteer his expertise in competition management and organization to “help streamline processes, and make tools more accessible for Experts.”

They will both have the opportunity to meet the rest of the team and contribute to the planning of activities at the next annual WorldSkills Expert Faculty workshop, which is set to take place in April in Haarlem, the Netherlands.

Dedicated to advancing skills development and strengthening the WorldSkills movement, the WorldSkills Experts Faculty is a volunteer group of current and former WorldSkills Experts. Through various projects, the Faculty promotes the power of skills while providing a platform for experienced members to mentor and support newer members.

The latest development is their new online and face-to-face training programmes, which provide essential information on WorldSkills fundamentals and specific skills competitions, complementing WorldSkills International’s training and support for new and returning Experts.

Open to anyone who has served as an official Expert at a WorldSkills Competition, the Faculty consists of three categories:

  • Representatives: past Experts forming the management team
  • Members: Experts no longer holding an official role at the international level
  • Associate Members: Active Experts wishing to stay updated on Faculty activities
