WorldSkills Champion joins United Nations World Youth Skills Day celebrations
Watch WorldSkills Champion Trust representative Jacqueline Tanzer speak at the UN’s online celebration of World Youth Skills Day, which took place on 15 July.
World Youth Skills Day 2022 takes place amid concerted efforts towards socio-economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that are interconnected with challenges such as climate change, conflict, persisting poverty, rising inequality, rapid technological change, demographic transition, among others.
Young women and girls, young persons with disabilities, youth from poorer households, rural communities, indigenous peoples, and minority groups, as well as those who suffer the consequences of violent conflict and political instability, continue to be excluded due to a combination of factors.
WorldSkills Champion Jacqueline Tanzer spoke at the UN’s online celebration of World Youth Skills Day on 1400 GMT Friday, 15 July 2022.
Jacqueline’s presentation is a follow-up to her recent intervention in the lead-up to the Transforming Education Summit. You can watch Jacqueline's talk on UN Web TV.
WorldSkills International is co-leading Thematic Action Track “Learning and skills for life, work, and sustainable development” of the Transforming Education Summit this September. The focus of the Summit is to create a movement of change among governments, policymakers and education sector leaders so young people and adults can enjoy inclusive, equitable, and high-quality lifelong learning.
The World Youth Skills Day event brought together youth, governments, UN agencies, the private sector, and civil society representatives to analyze the impact of current crises on youth globally and debate the options for young people to quickly adapt to the demands of an ever-changing world.
