Join WorldSkills Champion, Euphrasia Mulenga, and a diverse panel of expert as they discuss how the future of skills can be green and gender-inclusive as part of the European Development Days.
The session on 15 June 2021 at 16:20–17:05 CEST (Central European Summer Time) will explore the effects of private-public partnerships in engaging champions in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) on female participation in male-dominated sectors to explore the question: can the TVET system be the change-maker in providing industrial skills equally for a more sustainable future? Find out how the public and private sectors are teaming up to empower young female champions in technical and vocational trades in Africa.
Women’s ability to participate equally in markets boosts productivity, increases economic diversification and sustainable and inclusive growth. This starts with improving women’s access to education and training to develop technical skills and provide knowledge to embrace digitalization and ease the transition to green economies and societies. However, cultural norms and lack of positive role models inhibit many young women from pursuing training in industrial fields.
This session is a collaborative effort by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the European Training Foundation, and WorldSkills International.
