Celebrating 75 years of WorldSkills: from one idea to a global movement

WorldSkills has launched a new video celebrating 75 years of the global skills movement. It traces the journey of the organization from a small competition in post-war Spain to a worldwide network of more than 90 Members dedicated to transforming lives through skills.

The anniversary video highlights the milestones, people, and ideas that shaped WorldSkills and helped it become the global stage for skills – a platform where young people demonstrate excellence, connect across cultures, and inspire change.

It also captures what makes WorldSkills more than just a competition. It’s about meeting like-minded people, learning from one another, and realizing how skills can build a better future for all.

WorldSkills has stood the test of time. From the early pioneers, to the Competitors, Experts, Partners, and volunteers who continue to make it thrive, the story continues today. With a growing number of Members, more diversity, and new skills emerging in areas such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, or cybersecurity, the movement is constantly evolving and looking forward.

After 75 years, the WorldSkills mission continues to endure, shining a spotlight on a world of possibilities, growth, and development through skills.
