Jingyi Lu

Jingyi Lu, the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 gold Medallist in Chemical Lab Technology, is challenging the belief that only the academic path leads to success. Born in Kaifeng, China, she is currently studying Chemical Analysis and Testing at Henan Chemical Technician College.

Jingyi’s path to vocational education was unexpected. When she did not pass her high school entrance exam, she chose to pursue technical training – a decision that would redefine her future. Now, she is celebrated as a role model in her community.

Passionate about the power of skills education, Jingyi advocates for it as a solution to youth unemployment and economic inequality, especially for marginalized groups. She regularly participates in career guidance events across vocational colleges, hoping to inspire young people to learn a skill and take pride in their craft.

As the WorldSkills Champions Trust representative for Asia, Jingyi is eager to use her platform to elevate the status of skilled workers around the world and promote vocational education as a pathway to success and fulfillment.
