With more than three decades in senior public service in Hong Kong, including leadership in labour, infrastructure, environmental protection, youth development, and international economic/trade relations, Donald Tong brings a wealth of experience in strategic development and global cooperation.
Some of his achievements in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government include leading the construction of the new airport, organizing the Olympic Equestrian Competitions in Hong Kong, overseeing waste and sewage treatment facilities serving 7.5 million people, and delivering public housing for more than 2.1 million residents.
In 2022, he was appointed CEO of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), responsible for advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), developing new policies and programs, and strengthening ties with TVET organizations in the Chinese Mainland and overseas.
As Official Delegate, he has led local and regional skills competitions, including the Hong Kong JuniorSkills Competition, and supported WorldSkills Vision 2035 discussions hosted in Hong Kong. His work has strengthened youth engagement, regional collaboration, and the promotion and development of TVET across Hong Kong.
