WorldSkills London 2011 is making it happen
As you walk through the halls of ExCeL London you are greeted by Competitors in deep thought and visitors eagerly trying to capture a glimpse of the best in the world. Many of the visitors at WorldSkills London 2011 have also been captivated by the opportunities to “Have a Go” and test their own skills. Xhorxhina from Albania said she had “never made an omelette before”, and was jumping with excitement as she realized she finished first by completing her omelette in less than 18 seconds.
At the print making “Have a Go” students have been encouraged to recognize memorable teachers by creating mono prints of their faces and placing them on a large demonstration wall. Artists supporting the activity said they have seen over 1500 students over the first three days of the Competition and were looking forward to more individuals today.
At the east end of the South Hall you will find yourself entering the “Make it Happen Exhibition” area. More than 200 companies, countries/regions and organisations representing employers, colleges and advisers are taking part in this massive exhibition. All exhibitors are eager to explain to visitors about the many employment, career, training and job opportunities that are available across the United Kingdom.
Colin Adams from the Royal Household said the turnout has been great. This was his first exposure to a WorldSkills Competition and his experience has been “fantastic”. Visitors have been enthusiastically interested in the exhibit that highlights the wide range of professions within the Royal Household, whose main role is to provide support and advice to The Queen.
Other exhibits include colleges promoting their programs, WorldSkills Member countries/regions providing information about their teams and employers such as Starbucks who are conducting on the spot interviews for jobs. If you have not visited WorldSkills London 2011 yet, come down today, October 8, 2011, for the final day of Competition.
