…and now, the Georgian WorldSkills Team for Leipzig 2013 is complete and ready!
Two exciting days of Competition have passed and the Closing Ceremony was held on Sunday 17 February evening at the Triumph Hall in the Didube Mall, Tibilisi, Georgia. After a short musical interlude and the national anthem, Ms. Ketevan Natriashvili, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science held a brief speech commending the young professionals for their efforts during the Competition. She also underlined the importance of vocational training for the nation and wished a successful participation to the WorldSkills Georgia team members. After an emotional presentation of awards, the participants exchanged their impressions of the past days during a wonderful dinner and following party.
As in the spirit of WorldSkills in general, many new friends were made during the Competition. However, one very interesting situation evolved within the Welding skill, which shows the importance of holding such events to offer young professionals an opportunity to showcase their skills. A representative of a large national welding company, who was watching the competition, approached one of the participants afterwards and spontaneously offered him a job based upon his proven qualifications. Congratulations!
The successful selection of the three Competitors for Cooking, Web Design and Welding skills was only possible due to the highly motivated and personal involvement of both the local government and private sector bodies as well as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The Georgian delegation would like to send out its best regards to all Members of WorldSkills International, and is looking forward to meeting you all at the Competition in Leipzig!
