WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025 showcases regional excellence and diversity

The three-day regional competition highlighted Asia’s commitment to skills, innovation, and future workforce development.

Under the motto “Hands On, Future On,” the 3rd WorldSkills Asia Competition concluded in Taipei at the end of November. Held from 27 to 29 November 2025 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and 2, the event featured 36 official skills, 6 junior skills, and 2 exhibition skills.

More than 300 Competitors and 1,000 Delegates from 30 countries and regions took part, including 19 WorldSkills Asia Members and 11 guest countries and regions.

The event marked a significant milestone for Chinese Taipei within the WorldSkills movement. It was the first time in 32 years that Chinese Taipei had hosted an international skills event, having last welcomed the global WorldSkills Competition in 1993.

WorldSkills Asia Founder and President Dr Mubarak Al Shamsi praised the collective efforts behind the Competition’s success, stating: “Over the past few days, we have witnessed excellence in its purest form, a showcase of skills, creativity, and determination across a wide range of disciplines. Each competition area became a stage where your hard work met your talents and the results have been nothing short of inspiring. In a region as dynamic and fast-changing as ours, the demand for a skilled, adaptable, and forward-thinking force has never been greater. You, our Competitors, have shown that you are ready to meet this challenge with confidence and courage.”

Ms Lydia Huang, Official Delegate of Chinese Taipei, expressed pride in hosting the event, saying, “We are deeply honoured to host the WorldSkills Asia Competition 2025. This is not only a significant responsibility but also a mission of great honour.”

Speaking at the International TVET Conference on 27 November, held alongside the Competition, WorldSkills President Francis Hourant said, “Skills competitions are not only celebrations of excellence; they are forecasting tools for the future of work. They reveal how technology reshapes craftsmanship, how innovation fuels productivity, and how skilled talent anchors sustainable industrial growth.”

He added, “Through these competitions, we see the emerging landscape of manufacturing, construction, digital services, energy, and advanced technologies — and we see the young professionals who will lead them.”

WorldSkills Asia promotes excellence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across the region. By fostering collaboration between Members, industry partners, and TVET institutions, it plays a central role in bridging the gap between education and employment, strengthening workforce development, and supporting economic growth in Asia.
