Groups working with target audiences

It feels like they have known each other for years, when they in fact only met 4 days ago. That is the feeling you get when you are lucky enough to hang out with 29 WorldSkills Champions all having proven themselves on the world stage and equally determined to tell the world about the WorldSkills movement. The six groups have worked tirelessly during the last two days and they cannot wait to share the results with the WorldSkills General Assembly.

The participants have been challenged with defining a target audience, drawing mood boards, and generating a word bank to help them create taglines. All of this to be able to produce a 30 second campaign video, writing a final report and to top that off doing a photo shoot in this moment of writing – so just a bit busy here! It has been exhausting but exciting and seeing them work together is just another reminder that we have a group of passionate experts at hand.

he WorldSkills Youth Forum (WSYF) participants have had many opportunities to get to know each other a bit better over the last couple of days. Apart from attending the WorldSkills Jamaica Opening Ceremony and given the opportunity to visit the WorldSkills Jamaica National Competition, we were invited to a Cultural Evening at hotel Wyndham, with the General Assembly Delegates. A splendid program had been put together to showcase the Jamaican performance arts skills and everyone enjoyed themselves to both song and dance entertainment. Day 3 (Thursday) was spent in Ocho Rios, first we had a few workshops at the Runaway Bay Hotel and Training Institute where the groups created storyboards for their videos.

While there we participated in The Big Skills Debate at Skills London 2010. We used Cisco’s WebEx, which is a live streaming service, that enabled us to have a chat and video feed from London to Ocho Rios. Participating in the debate helped us showcase Champions to the WorldSkills London Audience and was a great opportunity to join in on a global skills debate.

The rest of the day trip in Ocho Rios was spent climbing the Dunn’s River Falls (watch out for photos on the website!) and visiting Margaritaville where there was an indoor waterslide from the restaurant to a pool in the bar.

Right now we are fine tuning the presentation to the General Assembly tomorrow and it is without a doubt going to be the most impressive presentation to date!
