TeamFinland 2013 won six medals during WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 and in addition, 19 Competitors were awarded with the Medallion for Excellence.

"This is a great result! International skills competitions offer us a possibility to evaluate and measure the level of vocational skills in Finland. Based on the results from the WorldSkills Competition this year, we are doing well and are one of the top countries in vocational excellence", said Ms Krista Kiuru, Minister of Education and Science.

The large number of Competitors in TeamFinland (altogether 43) together with the good results in more than half of the skills the team participated, demonstrates the high quality of vocational education and training in Finland.

"Vocational excellence in skills is based on the high-quality vocational upper secondary education and training. This will create the skills and competencies we need in working life and also creates the basis for lifetime learning and development", stated Minister Kiuru. "The goal for our Government is to make Finland the most competent country in the world by 2020. To achieve this target, Finland will need young and skilled people like you!"
