One year countdown to WorldSkills Lyon 2024

Today marks the one year countdown to the 47th WorldSkills Competition, which will be held in Lyon, France from 10-15 September 2024.

One year from now, the WorldSkills community will reunite in Lyon, France, for the world’s largest skills championship.

With Lyon on their horizons, thousands of young people from our Member countries and regions across the world have already qualified through their national competition. As they continue training and perfecting their skills they are an inspiration to other young people looking to discover and pursue their passion.

The 47th WorldSkills Competition will take place from 10 to 15 September 2024. The event will welcome 1,500 Competitors from over 65 countries and regions to take part in 62 skill competitions at Eurexpo Lyon. This will be the second time for the city of Lyon and for the venue to welcome a WorldSkills global championship – the first took place in 1995.

The WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Organizing Committee has set ambitious goals to deliver a Competition that leaves a lasting legacy for France’s skills system and for the WorldSkills community. Their goal is to build an inspiring platform for the promotion of vocational education and training by focusing on three core objectives:

  • Inspiring pride in young people to practice a skill with excellence.
  • Creating an innovative visitor experience to lead young people to VET careers.
  • Prioritizing sustainability, social, and environmental responsibilities that reduce our footprint and promote diversity and inclusion.

Over 250,000 visitors are expected to attend, with half of them school students. The venue will offer special routes for different age groups, making for a more engaging and active experience, and Try-a-Skill activities allowing anyone to try their hand at a skill.

Get ready to enjoy the greatest celebration of skills excellence. Join us in a year to show the world that Where there is a Skill, there is a Way.
