As Europe moves toward economic recovery, WorldSkills Europe aims to raise the profile of Vocational Education and Training (VET) across Europe and highlight the role that VET can play in building a stronger continent. December 9-12, over 400 young people from 27 European countries/regions will meet at Feira Internacional de Lisboa to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in over 30 skill areas.

The event will also feature a national and international conference and seminar programme which will connect policy makers, teachers, trainers, and the public, to discuss and debate key issues and challenges in VET within Europe. The key topic focuses on ‘how to raise the profile of VET’.

You can visit the event free of charge. Members of the public are welcome to participate in the conference and seminar programme, but will need to register in advance. For further information on how to register for the conference and seminar programme, please visit www.euroskills2010.pt.

Prof. Doctor Carneiro, President of the Research Centre for People and Cultures, said ‘VET is an integral part of a skillful, sustainable and inclusive Europe. Empowering people through the acquisition of the right mix of skills and robust lifelong learning, is a major priority for an innovative Europe.’
