Got Heart?
The Aircraft Maintenance competition organisers, awarded the Aviation Heart Award to United Kingdom Competitor, Stewart Wright this Saturday, immediately following the finish of the WorldSkills Competition.
This award stands separately from the marks and skills shown throughout the Competition. Instead, this competition award basis its winner on heartfelt criteria such as who as a country/region has shown the most team spirit, dedication, positivity, and helpfulness. Who helps others without egos, but with sincerity instead and who considers sustainability in all that they do.
This award was handed to one person, but was awarded to the United Kingdom team. The host country cannot win the award, but any other country with a Competitor in the Aircraft Maintenance contest area is eligible and the host country organisers of the Aircraft Maintenance competition, determines the country/region who best met the criteria for the Aviation Heart Trophy.
Although Aircraft Maintenance is a Demonstration skill, the idea of the award has been 2 years in the making. The idea evolved as a way to appreciate all of the incredibly dedicated people involved in Aircraft Maintenance competitions and education.
The trophy was designed by Michel Michaud, with the collaboration of Jean-Philippe Richard, and Gabriel Cornu from College Edouard-Montpetit (ENA), Quebec. “Five trades were practiced in the creation of this trophy,” said Michaud. “Computer Aided Design (CAD), CNC Machining, Cabinet Making, Painting, and Sheet metal skills have all been utilized in creating this piece of art.”
Stewart Wright gladly received the award on behalf of the Delegates, Workshop Supervisors, their assistants, and Competitors of the United Kingdom.
