Global Partner launches Global Training Center to boost skills alignment in ICT
VCOM’s new initiative in Tianjin supports cross-border training, innovation, and global collaboration.

With WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 on the horizon, an International Exchange on Information Network Cabling took place in Tianjin, China, strengthening technical collaboration and providing a regional platform to advance best practice and innovation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), industrial integration, and international partnerships.
Educators, Experts, and skills competition representatives from Singapore, Japan, Laos, Chinese Taipei, and China took part in the event, which was co-organized and sponsored by WorldSkills Global Partner Guangdong VCOM Education Technology Co Ltd, and hosted by Tianjin Electronic Information Technician College.
Participants engaged in collaborative training sessions, technical demonstrations, and strategic discussions on the evolving demands of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. They were also introduced to the emerging field of Intelligent Security Technology, currently under consideration as a new official skill by WorldSkills International.

The event also saw the launch of the Global Training Center’s Information Network Cabling Training Base. Located in Tianjin, the centre will use the WorldSkills Occupational Standards (WSOS) to support high-quality, standardized training, promote pedagogical innovation, and enhance cross-border skills development.
Cathy Wang, CEO of VCOM Education, emphasized the strategic value of the new centre, saying it reflects the company’s vision to build “world-class training environments” that integrate technological advancement with educational excellence. She added that the initiative offers a “shared platform for global collaboration and talent cultivation”.
Responding to the growing demand for advanced ICT installation skills, the centre aims to expand its training scope to other high-demand skill areas in the future and serve as a catalyst for regional and global alignment in skills development.
“This initiative aligns with the United Nations South-South Cooperation Framework. Collaborative platforms such as the Global Training Center should serve as a model for regional talent development,” said Jane Stokie, Director of Skills Competitions at WorldSkills, on the role of global skills exchanges in shaping the future workforce. “Vocational education is key to national strength. Investing in young people’s skills fosters sustainable, inclusive growth – because skills empower, open doors, and shape the future.”
Marked by mutual respect, shared knowledge, and a commitment to excellence, the exchange in Tianjin reaffirmed the unifying power of skills. As industries continue to evolve, initiatives such as this reinforce the role of skills in building global resilience and sustainable development.
