WorldSkills General Assembly 2020 in Dublin

Ireland has been chosen to host of WorldSkills General Assembly 2020!

Ireland is one of the oldest members of WorldSkills. It became the seventh country to join the movement in 1956. It held its first skills competition the following year, and has twice hosted the international competition in Dublin in 1963 and Cork in 1979.

The Irish delegation wants to share with other WorldSkills Members how it intends to use skills as part of the Ireland’s National Skills Strategy 2025. This strategy’s aim is to provide sustainable economic growth while improving lives and making Ireland a better place to live and work.

Part of this National Skills Strategy will include the provision of 50,000 modern apprenticeships by 2020 to create full employment for Ireland’s young people.
