First National Skills Competition in Tbilisi, Georgia

The national competition to evaluate and select the Competitors who will represent Georgia in their respective skill, during the 42nd international WorldSkills Competition in Leipzig, Germany has just begun. The WorldSkills Georgia organization, in close co-operation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and supported by WorldSkills Germany, has put an immense effort in preparing this Competition.
Over 30 young professionals will come together and match their acquired skills in this two-day Competition. The Opening Ceremony is taking place tonight, 15 February. Aside from local and national media representatives, many high ranking officials from the government and private sector associations will be present offering motivating words to the Competitors and underlining the importance of vocational education and its influence on the nation’s economy.
The Competition itself will be open to the public, offering a genuine insight into the professional skills required by cooks, welders and web designers. High schools around Tbilisi have been informed about this unique opportunity and it is expected that many youngsters will visit the Competition in order to possibly inspire themselves for a future career.
With the Closing Ceremony on the evening of the 17th, all Competitors will be rewarded for their efforts during the Competition either with a medal and/or a certificate of appreciation. More information and pictures to follow, after the Competition.
