From January 27-29, 2011 Odense (in Funen, Denmark) will host the first ever Danish National Competition (DM) in Vocational Education and Training (VET) where 200 young skilled workers will compete in 36 skill areas under one roof.

Everyone is invited to stop by Odense Congress Center, where the Competition will take place. There is free admission all three days. Thursday begins with an Opening Ceremony attended by the Minister of Education, Tina Nedergaard, and WorldSkills International’s President Elect, Simon Bartley. The Competition ends with an award ceremony where the Governor of the National Bank, Nils Bernstein will present the medals.

Inspiring educational choices
DM offer students in grades 8-10 (14-17 years of age) a perfect opportunity to experience training in action. During the Competition students, who will soon have to choose a post secondary education, can see for themselves what it takes to be a Carpenter, Hairdresser, Thatcher or any other of the 20 try-a-skill areas available. They can try their hand at a profession, and they can get guidance on how to pursue a career in that field.
