Delegates share progress and offer insights on day three of WorldSkills General Assembly 2025

Building on the momentum of WorldSkills Croatia Conference 2025, WorldSkills used a series of breakout meetings to report on progress, discuss future direction, and move strategies forward.

The third day of WorldSkills General Assembly 2025 was defined by collaboration and cooperation. Through a series of committee meetings, breakouts, and working groups, WorldSkills Members and Global Partners shared learnings and discussed future decisions.

The morning started with two key Committee meetings.

At the Strategic Development Committee meeting, Official Delegates heard updates on Marketing and Communications, Sponsorship and Partnership, the WorldSkills Conference 2026, the WorldSkills Global Research Council, and progress on the PISA-VET initiative with OECD. The session also offered Members and Partners an opportunity to discuss Vision 2035 in more detail and hear about best practice and developments in EDI.

Looking ahead to WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the Competitions Committee meeting provided Technical Delegates with a progress report on the 48th WorldSkills Competition and included updates on developments to the skill competitions, the WorldSkills Occupational Standards, and improvements to WorldSkills IT systems. Attendees also explored the role of AI in skill competitions and considered a proposal to use it to translate Test Projects.

During the day, WorldSkills Croatia and WorldSkills Champions Trust (WSCT) collaborated to host a lively and engaging Skills Promotion event. Eleven TVET schools from across Dubrovnik-Neretva County took part in the event held at the Studentski Centar in Dubrovnik. The young students heard motivational talks by the WSCT, who shared stories of their personal journeys and the transformative impact of WorldSkills on their lives.

In the afternoon, delegates broke out into side meetings.

The MarCom Working Group had two sessions to explore the different ways Members and Partners can activate Vision 2035, elevate the impact of the movement, and increase engagement from global media with a media-forward, purpose-centric mindset.

Jason Weedon from OECD and Jenny Shackleton from WorldSkills chaired a more detailed discussion on PISA-VET. This pioneering project sees WorldSkills partnering with OECD to develop a new international assessment to measure the skills of learners completing initial vocational education and training (VET) programmes in selected occupations.

WorldSkills Global Research Council, the group that advises and shapes WorldSkills’ research agenda, took the opportunity to meet and build on its future plans and discuss how it can be more closely aligned with the trajectory of WorldSkills Vision 2035.

WorldSkills Global Partners used their breakout meeting to welcome new companies to the community and update them on WorldSkills initiatives, programmes, policies, and best practice. Additionally, a Finance breakout meeting shared financial statements and budgets, and discussed membership fees.

The third day concluded with a fascinating evening tour of the Old City in Dubrovnik, where Members and Partners were immersed in the walled city’s rich history. Guests walked through winding cobbled streets, exploring the link from past to present through industries and skills important to Croatia’s economy, before enjoying a taste of Croatian cuisine.
