Competition Preparation Week underway in Leipzig

Competition Preparation Week has got off to a flying start. Almost 300 people have gathered together in Leipzig to finalize plans and ensure the smooth running of WorldSkills Leipzig 2013.

Technical Delegates, Technical Delegate Assistants, Chief Experts and Deputy Chief Experts, who make up the Skill Management Team, are working closely with Workshop Supervisors and WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 and WorldSkills International staff on the detailed planning needed to make a successful WorldSkills Competition.

Competition Preparation Week has got off to a flying start.

Almost 300 people have gathered together in Leipzig to finalize plans and ensure the smooth running of WorldSkills Leipzig 2013. Technical Delegates, Assistant Technical Delegates, Experts and Deputy Chief Experts, who make up the Skills Management Team, are working closely with Workshop Supervisors and WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 staff on the detailed planning needed to make a successful WorldSkills Competition.

Currently 1,046 Competitor registrations have been received for WorldSkills Leipzig 2013, which represents a 12.3% increase from WorldSkills London 2011. Skills which have seen a significant rise in registrations include Information Network Cabling, Mechanical Engineering Design - CAD and Fashion Technology.

Martin Winter, Technical Director of WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 praised the cooperation of all members of the Skills Management Team and WorldSkills International in helping the Leipzig team in their planning for the event.

The growth in the Competition represents a 23% increase in space needed to host the event which will see Competitors in 46 skills compete to be the best of the best in their chosen profession at the Leipzig Messe from 2-7 July 2013.

David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International said he was delighted with the progress being made.

“WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 is set to be the biggest WorldSkills event in the history of the Competition and getting the planning right at this stage is essential for ensuring the event is a success for everyone involved: Competitors, Skills Management Teams, Partners, Sponsors and Visitors. An enormous amount of work goes into the process and we are grateful to everyone taking part this week for helping to make this happen.”
