Building an event venue for the 45th WorldSkills Competition

Competitors and visitors to WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be among the first to use the new purpose built exhibition centre next to the city’s international airport.

Competitors and visitors to WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be among the first to use the new purpose built exhibition centre next to the city’s international airport.

Construction is already well advanced on the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, which is due to be completed shortly.

With a total area of over 75,000 square metres, it will feature three main exhibition pavilions, and connects directly to the airport along a covered walkway.

For WorldSkills Kazan 2019, around 1,500 Competitors, 1,500 Experts, and 250,000 visitors are expected. The venue’s location puts it within 1,000 kilometres of half of the population of Russia, or over 70 million people.

It is also just half an hour from the city centre by public transport or 20 minutes by car.

At the heart of Kazan Expo is a modern congress hall with a capacity of 3,000 delegates, along with 35 multi-functional conference halls  that can hold from 30 up to 500 delegates.

Situated in the venue is the Future Skills zone, a 10,000 square metre “smart city” concept, which will showcase cutting edge thinking on everything from agriculture and energy to ecology and transport.

The Future Skills zone is a change for industry leaders, government officials and anyone interested to glimpse what professional skills and work might look like in the coming decades.

Finally, WorldSkills Juniors will run alongside the main event as a competition for 14 to 16 year olds, with skills like Drone Operating and Mobile Robotics.
