BeChangeMaker 2022 open for applications

Behind every social challenge, there is an unmet demand and opportunity to make the world a better place. WorldSkills and HP Foundation want to help social entrepreneurs build their business through BeChangeMaker 2022.

Supported by WorldSkills and the HP Foundation, BeChangeMaker provides selected teams with access to high-quality learning content on HP LIFE, along with tools and technology to grow a start-up business. Participants will also receive dedicated coaching, mentoring, and customized support.

Apply for BeChangeMaker 2022 before 3 June for a chance to become one of the thirty teams receiving three months of intensive training and coaching to accelerate your social entrepreneurship idea.

Since its inception in 2017, BeChangeMaker’s popularity and recognition has continued to grow with more than 1,200 teams from over 80 countries applying to take part.

“Skilled youth hold the key for a sustainable future. BeChangeMaker was created to inspire global action by helping talented young people turn their ideas into sustainable businesses,” says Grace Lung, Senior Manager of Partnership Programmes at WorldSkills International.

“Over the years, it has been a very rewarding journey to see so many projects across very different sectors have launched, succeeded, and upscaled after having taken part. Their success benefits everyone.”

For Stephanie Bormann, Manager, HP Foundation, the high number of applications in 2020 and 2021 show that even a “global pandemic couldn’t dampen enthusiasm” and that there is still a “real desire among young people to solve social problems, even in tough times.”

BeChangeMaker is one of the ways HP is making progress towards its goal of accelerating digital equity for 150 million people by 2030.

“Through the combination of access to HP LIFE, the HP Foundation’s free online training program, and the expertise of HP technologists and business experts who step up enthusiastically every year to volunteer as team mentors, BeChangeMaker is enabling us to empower the next generation of changemakers,” said Stephanie Bormann.

BeChangeMaker 2022 Programme

• Taking place online, BeChangeMaker 2022 is open to participants from anywhere in the world. Applications close on 3 June, with the top 30 teams announced on 13 June 2022.
• Following three-month training, the teams will participate in an online pitch competition. The top five teams then progress to the live online pitch finale in mid-October.
• At the end of the programme, the top five teams will each receive EUR 1,000 worth of customized post-programme training, while the top three teams will receive an additional EUR 2,000 cash award.
