Message from the CEO
David Hoey, CEO WorldSkills International
When I look back over the history of WorldSkills, it is pretty amazing to see the growth and ground swell that started with just a simple idea in Spain over 60 years ago. We just welcomed our 72nd Member this past month! WorldSkills is having more direct impact around the world than the creators ever imagined.
Every day we are striving to push WorldSkills further and further through our six focus areas: Career, Advocacy, Research, Education and Training, International Cooperation and Development, and Competitions and Projects. With recent additions to the WorldSkills portfolio like the Water Innovation Challenge and the Skills Specification Standards, we are reaching beyond just our flagship skill Competitions and getting involved in communities, classrooms, training facilities, and industry. We are bringing the best minds and practices together to learn from each other and transfer that knowledge forward. We are going to be focusing on new and emerging technologies and techniques that will help make the world more sustainable. In short, we are improving our world with the power of skills.
